Of all the days to faint – don’t let it be on your wedding day. Plenty of couples are so swept up in all the emotions and events of the day, they will forget to eat or drink water! Being properly fueled and hydrated will make sure you look your best and can enjoy your entire day without being hangry or fainting. Plan for when you will be eating throughout the day. I even go as far as including lunch in the day of timeline because I think it is that important. Here are some tips on what and when to eat on your wedding day!

*These suggestions are assuming the wedding ceremony is starting around 3pm or 4pm and with a first look

Breakfast: The average wedding is 6 hours long, but this is not including all of the prep time. Hair and makeup will start 5-7 hours before your ceremony and you might have to drive to the “getting ready” location. So with all this considered, this could end up being a 14 hour day! Starting the day with a quality breakfast is essential. Eat a breakfast with protein, fruits and vegetables to keep you full longer. This could be a smoothie with lots of fruits and vegetables and an egg scramble with meat and vegetables.

Lunch: If you opt to do a first look, this will usually start about 2 hours before the ceremony. A great time to eat your lunch would be before this first look. A piece of fruit and a sandwich would be a great option for lunch. Just make sure to have lighter bread like wheat bread, so you don’t feel so bloated if that is something that affects you. Make sure to communicate to your bridal party how meals will work the day of! If you are getting lunch for the bridal party make sure they know this, or if they are expected to bring their own food make sure they know this too.

*Don’t forget to bring a toothbrush and some floss

Snack: After the first look, I will hide the bridal party for a half an hour before the start of the ceremony. This is a great time to get in a little snack before you walk down the aisle. Depending on how long your ceremony is and when dinner is served, it might be a while until you can eat again.

Dinner: Eat the meal you paid for! So much will be going on during the reception it can be easy to forget to eat! Commit to sitting down with your new spouse for at least 5 minutes and eat. You need to be properly fueled to dance the night away!

Hydrate: You need be very intentional about hydrating 2 weeks in advance to your wedding. This will ensure your skin will looks its best! You may have a photo or two taken of you on your wedding day :) This is especially important if your wedding is taking place outside in the summer. You can quickly get drained if you are standing outside in direct sunlight for even an hour-long ceremony. Drink water!

Be prepared and plan ahead! Having a coordinator or a point person in charge of making sure you eat is essential if you are prone to forgetting. You deserve the best day – so make sure you are properly fueled and hydrated!

Happy Planning!
